Volunteers meet 3-4 times during the camp planning season from February to June. They are expected to attend as many meetings as possible and actively engage in the camp planning process. We are ALL volunteers and can not make camp great without everyone pitching in!
Volunteers are all expected to have a current First Aid/CPR certification. Unit Leaders are expected to have Basic Overnights, Indoor Overnight and Outdoor Overnight - all GS trainings.
Lifeguards must hold a current American Red Cross lifeguard certification AND the American Red Cross Open Water certification.
Those new to Kayak Community Camp are required to attend a New Volunteer Orientation prior to being rostered.
Background checks are required for all volunteers and facilitated by Girl Scouts of Western Washington.
Generally, volunteers must be available the whole week of camp (exception can be made on a case-by-case basis). They must also attend pre-camp trainings.
We will do our best to contact you via email within one week of submission to schedule a virtual interview.
